| - about a year go, I'd gotten a 4 pk of Murphy's from Total Wine and More and it was love at first pint, even though it was a canned pint! The Harp serves Murphy's on draft... I didn't have a chance.
The atmosphere is great, the dark wood panelling and brick facade gives it an old pub feel, along with the mismatched chairs (I love this mismatched chairs). Chris, our bartender, served my husband and I perfect pints and was so fun to chat with, we both considered spending the rest of the saturday there and calling our cab friend for the wheelbarrow service.
While I may be an expert on good beer, I'm no expert on fish and chips. I pretty much am just looking for fish that's not too "fishy", isn't soggy, and has all around good flavor and texture and isn't dry. I'm shocked to see so many complaints on the food, because with my fish and chips, my husbands fish sandwich and the irish nachos we had as an appetizer, I can't think of a single complaint. The garlic fries were phenomenal- better than Red Robin since our fries weren't drenched in butter soggy. The fish came in large portions that weren't greasy, nice and crisp, and the fish inside was what fish should be. OH!! And the cole slaw was awesome! Trust me- I don't even like cole slaw, neither does my husband, but we couldn't keep our forks out of it it was so good.
We (the spouse and myself) have been to many bars/pubs around the east valley, and were (before today) Murphy's Law residents. The Harp is definitely our new spot. I can't wait to get out of work on a friday night to check out the dueling pianos.
