I don't usually write reviews but I felt misled after reading the reviews on here so here is my experience.
I brought my car from Montreal over to Toronto and had to get a safety standards inspection. After looking online at a few shops I ended up going to Sunny's Auto Clinic. He was friendly on the phone and said I could come by immediately, and was very welcoming. I made the mistake of mentioning that I had never done an inspection before and that my car was from out of town. After 30 minutes he told me my rear winter tires were too worn out and would need to be replaced. He said he could not pass my vehicle unless the tires were replaced, and with labour came out to an estimate of $300 plus tax. I told him this was unlikely as I had just had a large maintenance done on the car a week ago in QC at the dealership, and everything was tested and passed. He suggested I could get a second opinion on the tires and charged half the amount ($45 plus tax) for the labour and rest of inspection.
I went to another mechanic and passed the safety inspection 15 minutes later with no repairs. The mechanic here even noted I had recent maintenance done and that everything looked great.
Although at Sunny's Auto Clinic they were not extremely pushy about the tires and was understanding that I wanted a second opinion, I still felt like they tried to rip me off, being a young, female new car owner. I won't be going back there as there are many other friendly, honest mechanics in Toronto.
