| - An okay spot to kick back & kill a little bit of time...
We were looking to end our weekend in Vegas in grand, financially-irresponsible fashion - and what better way to do so than over a glass of champagne?
____________
+ The Laguna bar has a very laidback, casual vibe - your standard casino bar environment, albeit with a more premium drink selection tan what you'll typically find. There's no dress code - come as you are and kick back with a drink & a cigar! This being said, the ease-of-access here has both its ups and downs - you won't really feel isolated or disengaged from the energetic casino environment, so keep that it mind.
We helped ourselves to seating at a table before relocating to the bar to watch the NBA game. No difficulties at all with finding two seats for ourselves & placing our orders.
The bar only has three TVs for viewing sports; each is about average in terms of size. I did appreciate how the Laguna Bar had the NBA playoff game showing when we paid a visit - albeit with no audio on.
____________
+ I'm happy to say that I can finally cross "taste Krug" off of my bucket list. This didn't come without loosening the wallet, of course - my girlfriend and I split a 5 oz serving ($50) among two flutes.
- I was a little annoyed that our server had poured all of our champagne into one glass before taking off (and never reappearing), leaving us to fend for ourselves in terms of pouring half the portion into another flute. I didn't trust my own pouring abilities (I can't even pour water into the coffee maker without making a mess), and I had to request a hand from one of the Laguna bartenders. Thankfully, the gentleman who assisted me was cheery, gracious, and happy to lend a hand.
For those who are curious...the Krug itself was quite delicious, and lived up to the hype. A far more aggressive acidity than what I'm used to tasting out of champagne (the nicest I'd up to that point was probably Perrier-Jouet), but the clarity of flavor was sublime. I made sure to sip every last drop - at that price, would you expect anything less?
The accompaniments of caramel corn & Asian-style trail mix were a nice touch and a great follow-up to a bit of bubbly.
A little dissatisfied with the service here, but the selection of champagnes is at least worth taking a peek at.
