Pretty bummed to report that Komol has truly fallen from its ranks.
I hadn't eaten here since before it got shut down for a roach infestation.
After they reopened I was very hesitant on returning.
I was in the area the other day and decided to give it a shot.
I have to admit I was looking around for roaches when I was inside. I didn't see any, but the interior was dusty and everything had kind of a greasy layer of film on it. There was only one other table occupied, so I was seated pretty quickly.
The waitress was kind and pleasant, and I ordered veggie panang.
When my starter salad came out the lettuce looked a little bit wilted, and it was room temperature versus cold. I decided to eat it anyways. Two bites in and I got a huge mouth full of dirt. I spit the lettuce out and sure enough under the dressing-all over it was dirt. It had not been washed at all!
The waitress came by to see how things were going and I told her about the dirty salad. She lifted up the plate and saw what I was talking about, apologized, and took it back to the kitchen. She brought out veggie soup for me. It was very bland.
Next came my veggie panang. The rice tasted old, and the veggies were not cooked long enough-the eggplant was quite tough. The flavor of the Penang curry itself was bland and oily. I was so disappointed! I ate about half of it, just because I was so hungry.
But I will surely never return to Komol again. And to think, once upon a time this was my go to Thai in Vegas.
