| - Friday night my wife and I found ourselves wondering what we would like to have when I suggested trying Fresh Wasabi.
I had been here once before and I had the teriyaki chicken dinner and a caterpillar roll. I wasn't impressed with the caterpillar roll at the time because the Eal tasted a little fishy. since they had just opened I figured I would come back another day to make a comprehensive review of things.
Wednesday night my wife and I ordered an array of items. We got a tootsie roll, surprise roll, masago, sunshine roll, oysters, shrimp tempura roll and a couple others.
The surprise roll was amazing, mouthwatering and full of flavor. It was my favorite out off all the rolls. The tootsie roll If I remember correctly had Eal layered on top and again the Eal tasted fishy. As my wife and I were talking about it we came to the conclusion that maybe it just isn't cooked as well done as it is at other sushi bars. Usually you will see the sushi chef put Eal on a piece of aluminum foil and pop it in a toaster oven before applying it to a roll but I don't think they do that here.
The Sunshine roll was a pleasant surprise. Some one sitting at a table had ordered it not realizing it came with Masago on top and they sent it back and the waitress asked if we would like to have it so it didn't go to waist. I was more than willing to accept. The fish was fresh, cold and flavorful. The thin slices of lemon on top made for a sweet and tart flavor. Mmmmmm!
Lastly I ordered there oysters that were on special since everyone at the bar was also ordering them and I didn't want to miss out on this tasty adventure. They were prepared with a little fish sauce, masago, and hot sauce. Wow they were tasty.
The shrimp tempura was also very good. This is what I call my old stand by. I love shrimp tempura so having it in a sushi roll is delectable.
Every one at the sushi bar was a lot of fun, we all talked and shared laughs together. The sushi chef was preparing excellent sushi, and the wait staff was very friendly and kept up with our drinks and were very tentative. We will be back. My only recommendation is that they maybe cooked the Eal a little longer or find another vendor for it because it is not mouth watering by any means. So if you live in Surprise or are in the area go by and check out Fresh Wasabi, you wont be disappointed.
