The Las Vegas Strip has become pretty greedy. Add resort fees atop expensive parking or even PAID FOR valet parking, and your wallet or purse gets vacuumed. Sam's Town was one of the first off-strip resorts for "locals".
It's weather-worn, but not in bad shape and the room we had was very clean and reasonably quiet.
Their customer service people range from very friendly and helpful to "see my manager".
For some, there is a breakfast buffet deal baked into their price. The food is ok. The problem is that the wait staff weren't very useful at all. They're friendly, just spread thin and unmanaged. The worse part of it for me was: they have no real coffee cream, just the non-dairy stuff. Oh, and heaven help you if you bring your Dunkin Donuts coffee to breakfast.
Could've been worse. Overall experience: ok, cost-effective, friendly, but it's a cheap place and quality eludes them in some areas. It's not far from downtown/The Strip, and some of the restaurants in the area are outstanding and perhaps 1/4th the price of comparable over-hyped and strategically-located Strip equivalents. Save some dough.
