| - I had walked by this place a few times and thought: "Oh, it's an ice cream store, and it's 1pm and I don't want ice cream."
Wrong! This place is awesome: ice cream store AND toy/novelty/gift store, all in one beautifully restored setting. The night I went, I had a pumpkin ice cream sandwich that comes from local makers in Wilkinsburg. Delicious. And this is one of the few places you can find it in Pittsburgh. They also had a stationary bike in the window alcove, which, we were told, customers can use to make their own milkshakes using their own leg power. What??? Amazing.
The other half of the store is a toy and novelty store with all sorts of unique gifts: tin toys (from Germany, I think), cute handmade baby shirts created by the store owners, puzzles, sew-on patches, etc.
What a treat for Carnegie to have yet another high-quality local business to add to its already vibrant main street. Check it out!
