  • First for full disclosure, I have always had bad experiences taking cars to small places like these. I always take my car to the dealership and contrary to what most people say, I found that their prices were about the same. People think they overcharge or over diagnose but they have to because if they miss something, it goes against the whole dealership and its brand. Knowing that the dealership have to fix it right and because my car is old, I took my car here to fix the A/C because I wanted a temporary fix till the weather cools off a bit. Temporary is what I got so I have to take some of the blame for that. Brought it in and I know some about cars, and they said it was the compressor which is what I thought. Here though they started off with an amount of over 1K. When I said no way, they started to haggle with me base on getting a used one and this and that and even guaranteeing me a 6 mos warranty on it and we finally get to 600. I said what the heck so figure it at least last me 6 mos right. They got it done, and on the bill it was charged with an evaluation of the A/C system, parts and labor and etc but that came to less than 600 so they had some other odd charge and then deducted some to get to that final 600. I don't like that one bit, if there is a fixed charge for certain items and labor, I don't want to haggle over it, it should be what they have in their system. Well my A/C was working fine for about 4 weeks and then suddenly it just stopped working again. Brought it over again and this time they said there is a major leak in the hose and it was going to cost another 400. I said no way, again they said oh I charged you for another evaluation of the A/C so I will take that off and it will be 200 because we missed the leak. I okay it because I just want another month of A/C. Thinking about it though, a leak does not just appear especially after 1 month, if it is there it is there. That is just too much of a coincidence especially when they said it would not hold the freon. Well it was done and behold last a week. I decided that I was just going to tough it out until the weather cools down and then in the spring get a new car. The car runs fine, but it is 12 yrs. old so not worth the investment. Oh and now my fan is not working either when the A/C went kaput, that is just too much of a coincidence. My advice is if it is something simple, maybe a mom and pop shop like this can handle it, but if it is more complicate and involve a whole system, then take it to the dealer. I can't recommend this place because they haggle over every thing. Have a fixed charge for what you do and follow it is all I am asking. They also don't really seem to know what they are doing as far as my car goes, just replace this and that and hope it works.
