barMasa was "ok." It's one of those "fancy Japanese" restaurants that have a fancy sounding menu, but the food didn't quite meet expectations. And it's quite expensive.
I ordered the $100 3 course omakase. It started off with some appetizers. The frois gras tacos were kinda a disappointment. Duck fried rice was a little odd. A couple more dishes that weren't too memorable - and this was only 3 days ago. The eggplant was good as was the mushroom dish. Chilean sea bass was decent. The third course was a bunch of rolls. California, wild salmon, some others. They were "ok." I was surprised that they all seemed to taste the same and didn't have a unique flavor.
For dessert, we had the creme brule - very good! and the grapefruit sorbet - decent.
