| - I am surprised to read positive reviews for this shelter. I was interested in donating money for and volunteering at the Animal Foundation. My experiences:
1. I went to Mojave Rd to ask about volunteering options. Front desk was completely uninterested in talking to me and told me to check the information on their website. I felt like I disturb them.
2. I decided to donate money anyway. Only after donating the recommended amount of $144, I got a letter inviting me to see the shelter pets. I did not go, because of how I was treated the first time when I went in without donating first, the "friendly" letter just sounded so fake.
3. I did register for the volunteer program, and signed up for upcoming event. I received the information at the 11:00 pm the day before that the event was cancelled, so I wasted my day as I could have made other plans.
4. I did sign up for another volunteering event for the next month. This event also got cancelled, and I was also informed about this just the day before. This was very disrespectful with no regards to my time.
5. I was interested in buying some nice, plushy, new blankets, heated blankets, pads, treats and scratches for the cats and bringing it in. An employee informed me, that I cannot deal with the pets, if I come in, if I am not a volunteer. I am not a volunteer because of 3) and 4).
I am especially upset because I wanted to do this for my upcoming birthday, instead of buying a present for myself.
This is a totally wrong policy, that despite I want to donate my money and my time for free, I cannot see a PET? Understand, that I am willing to spend my money on ANIMALS, so I want to see an ANIMAL, not the staff, especially that everyone is so rude. I tried to help in any way possible, but had been discouraged each time. I am looking for a different Shelter.
