| - The donuts here are the least of my concern. They are adequate... average... merely "okay."
Oddly, the place with "donuts" in its name excels at other things and merely gets by on the donuts.
Coffee, bagels, and hot breakfast sandwiches. Mmm...
First, their famous coffee. What Dunkin does that nobody else seems to have been able to master is that they give you hot, flavorful, caffeinated coffee that doesn't make you shake, sweat, and crap in your pants. I wish that I could say the same about some of the tastier artisan coffees out there, but I cannot. Dunkin delivers the flavor and the wakey-wakey without the ill side effects you find elsewhere.
Next, their bagels. Better than Panera, and cheaper I believe. I made my own steak, egg, cheese, onion, and pepper breakfast bagels on Sunday and couldn't have asked for a better bagel base. They do a great "everything" bagel, too.
Finally, the breakfast sandwiches. There aren't a lot of places around here where you can get a hot breakfast sandwich on a real croissant. There is nothing good or happy about a Croissan'wich. They just make me angry. But Dunkin's sausage egg and cheese croissant is damn near perfect.
I love you, Dunkin. I love your coffee... whether it's from the drive through, ground and brewed at home, or through my french press at work when I'm really feeling the 2:30 blues. I love your bagels and your croissant sandwiches.
Get your donuts straight, and it's a 5-star review.
