| - Prime location, foul, outdated pool area.
5 stars - Location. If you have a concert a Planet Hollywood, you could easily walk. If you have dinner or a show at Caesar's or the Bellagio, you could also walk. Go around the corner to CVS for bottled water and $5 yogurt if you want to save on yogurt and water at the hotel.
4 stars - Renovated burgundy room is lovely. The lighting is just OK. Bathroom is a little dark for makeup application. The room lets in light in the morning so bring your night mask. Also, bring your ear plugs. On the 23rd floor facing the Bellagio, I could still hear the music blaring until 2AM and beyond. The Bellagio fountains make a startling "boom" each time they spout. You'll hear it! You DO get a coffee maker and a fridge in the burgundy room. You DO get a safe, an alarm, and a luggage rack. You do NOT get a robe, bottled water, or snacks.
1 star - The pool area was as bad - if not worse - than described in other posts. I witnessed leather-skinned, 60+ year old women busting out of their bikinis who were puffing away on their cigarettes along the edges of the pool. The men here have nothing on the women. The greased back toupees on the frail frames were even more noticeable when wearing socks with black work shoes. And please, who smokes a cigar poolside? That's just rude. This was like an SNL skit. A thin, oily film coated the top of the cloudy water and people shuffled back and forth from the broken, wobbly beach chairs to the smelly, dated pool. Guests were classless and did not bother to move their beach towels to the bins once they were done using them. If you want a nice pool, DO NOT STAY HERE.
4 stars - Service is quite good. My room was cleaned on time, as expected. From check in, to the concierge, to business services... everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm dropping one star for the awkward reservation process. Once I reserved a room, I went through a strange series of phone transfers with people who were trying to upsell me on getting a tour of the property for a future hotel credit. It was bizarre.
3 stars - The salon is worth mentioning. The salon felt a little dated. The salon could have been located in Tuna Fish, Idaho. I can't remember a single detail that made it feel french. There was nothing posh about the salon. I went for makeup and a blow-out. While Cindy was a nice person, I felt like the salon could have been much more spectacular. She had a great selection of makeup and hair products, but the general feel of the salon was just.... basic. Though she did a great job on my hair and makeup, I left feeling like I had spent a lot of money of an experience that wasn't that special. 5 stars for Cindy and 3 stars for the salon itself.
Tip: For those of you who use "Rent the Runway", you can return your rented items via UPS at the hotel business center located between Ballys and Paris. Expect to pay a shipping and handling fees, according to weight. My sister and I paid almost $25 to mail our dresses back to RTR. You should also expect to fill out some paperwork.
