I love pierogis and cabbage rolls, so I was excited to visit. The proprietor is lovely, the service is stellar, and we enjoyed our visit. I think there is a Glendale curve in effect for the Yelp rating, however, so my (admittedly high) expectations did not match the food.
Pros:
- The food is well executed in technique. The kielbasa is just a little bit crispy on the sides. The pierogis are slightly browned.
- The pickled herring was well done - fishy, tangy, a little sweet.
- The service is quick, efficient, and friendly.
Cons:
- The sauerkraut and mushroom pierogis were bland. I expected more flavor and texture, perhaps tanginess or crunch from the sauerkraut.
- The flavor profiles of the kielbasa and the cabbage rolls were just...boring.
