| - Pros:
1. Price: We got the room pretty cheap. The low price of $40.00 per night sort of negates some of the negatives, however, like other Las Vegas hotels, Rio is now charging $35.00 for a BS "resort fee". What do you get for this fee that you did not get before? Nothing!
2. Parking: Thank god the parking is still free...for now.
3. The room: All rooms at Rio are suites which we appreciated
Cons:
1. Fees: Ridiculous resort fees.
2. Smells: The casino smelled so bad. We walked around the casino and 20 minutes later, we smelled like ashtrays. I am not exaggerating when I say that we were coughing and our eyes were stinging from the smoke. Yuk! They need a better ventilating system.
3. The Buffet: Rio is well-known for their buffet. I have eaten here before because of the variety of cuisine. This time, we found out that the normal buffet was $33.00! That's almost as much as your 5-stars hotel buffet. If you want additional seafood, you have to pay an $20.00 more. That's $53.00 to eat a seafood buffet. We asked to talk around the buffet area. The seafood buffet area was impressive with their King crab legs, oysters, lobsters, shrimps, etc. However, there was no way I was going to pay $50+ for a buffet!
4. Casino: All their slot machines were lame. We have never heard of these games. Most were either ancient or unknown games. The only one we recognized was The Goonies. I went to their poker room and there was 1 table. Again, lame!
Conclusions: We were scheduled for 2 nights. After one night, we asked to cancel our room reservation and went to another hotel, which thankfully they allowed us to do.
