| - I stayed here with a friend that is a travel agent. He was able to secure the room on a friday night for a TA rate of $79 a night all in.
"Holy Allah of Shit!" I thought. A fairmont in downtown Toronto for $79 all in? We managed to find street parking a block away, so we walk in with our tiny rollaboards. None of the bellhops bother to help with the door.
As we carry our bags up the stairs, we realize why it's so cheap. This hotel is extremely dated. Some people think it is charming, but it's just campy. The Banff Springs Hotel is charming. Yeah, I like the hyper-modernity of the W and Westin, but I can show some love to old. But this is 1970s london. Ugly.
The room is the same. Dated as hell. Typical American urban size: smaller, but not Europe small. Oily/drool/bodily fluid stain on the sofachair, located center and slightly towards the front. Lolz. Very motel 6.
The beds were comfortable, but they got nothing on the W. Nice shower and amenities. I was amazed there was a flat screen TV in such a dated hotel.
Walls were paper thin, we heard some girls at 0430 gossiping about their night at KoolHaus. Not a big deal unless you are a light sleeper.
Good location, but this place needs a reno. This is America, not Europe. Hotels here need to be renovated every few decades or so. We N. Americans don't give a fuck about history.
