Jean-Talon market was one of my only hope to get romanesco broccoli for the dish I wanted to prepare for a dinner party and the farmers at their stall didn't have any. They said that it wasn't the season for those fractal cauliflowers so I had to find a substitute. After a bit of strolling, my cousin pointed out Chez Louis, why not?
There wasn't much room to walk inside. It was kind of like walking in between tables in a tight restaurant. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of fruits and vegetables and surprise surprise, they had romanesco! I was so happy. One of the staff member helped me get most of the remaining ingredients for my dish and he even gave some recommendations. On top of that, there was a little section of microgreens which left me really excited because they're so hard to find. A little bit of clover-like leaves and vibrant edible flower petals can really make your dish pop up.
A really lovely store with competent staffs and all kinds of fruits and vegetables - even the weird ones. If you can't find a key ingredient to your dish then a stop by Chez Louis is absolutely worth a try.
