| - Truly the buffet to reign over other buffets
I'm always a big fan of value for the money and variety so I'm always drawn to buffets. I've had buffets all across the world (all you can eat BBQ in Japan remains one of my favorite meals as well as hot pot buffet in China). The Bacchanal buffet takes your standard buffet, and explodes it by 10 (or by 3 if you're a vegas buffet).
I went on a Friday at 2:30 PM (Yes, tried to sneak in at the lunch price but get the dinner options when they switch over at 3:00PM). The line was nonexistent which was good, although there was a decent amount of people in there already eating. The waitress quickly got our drink orders, and refilled them once before disappearing for the remainder of the meal (big annoyance). However, they were fairly quick in clearing the used plates from the table (althought that's more the busboys).
There was Asian, Italian, Mexican, Soup, Meat, American, Seafood, and dessert section (Just roughly categorized over 100 options into those buckets. Will try to list out a number of dishes I tried and my impression on each:
Asian: Ramen was decent and edible, but far cry from ramen shops. Seaweed salad was good. Duck was ok but oily. Didn't try the dim sum but they looked good. Penang curry was ok... nothing special. Roasted pork belly lacked flavor. Hot and Sour soup was... smoky? Very offputting
Italian: Charcuterie was decent, cheeses were decent as well. The rest of the italian was uninspired (unless you really just like italian food) meatballs could use more seasoning, while the pasta I got was ok.
Mexican: Coming from Texas, the mexican was ok (I should have got the tacos as people were going crazy for them). Roasted pork lacked flavor, as well as the chile verde, mexican rice, and ranchero beans. There were 2 kinds of mexican soups / braised meats, the beef was better than the pork and very tender.
Soup: Got the clam chowder, was ok but a little undersalted for my taste.
Meats: Got the brisket, pork rib, slab bacon, American wagyu beef, and prime rib. Brisket was decent but been under the heater too long. Pork rib was amazingly tender, comporable to BBQ I had in Texas. Slab bacon is delicious if you like... fatty pork. Prime rib was chewy, you really have to get the right cut (more well done may be better). American Wagyu beef you need the right cut as well... so overall the meats are hit or miss.
American: Mashed potates were uninspired. Hushpuppies were delicious.
Seafood: Shrip, snow crabs, and king crabs were all delicious. Load up on the king crab, and beware the horseradish packs a punch
Dessert: great variety of dessert, creme brulee was good, as well as the egg tarts. Gelato was good... overall try as many options as you can.
