We stopped in for happy hour during a staycation at the Hard Rock, mostly because we had a free drink coupon and their bar bites menu looked intriguing. Two drinks, two apps, and $25 later, I was ready to hit the casino.
The food wasn't bad, but it didn't deliver on the promise of its great ingredients. Two sliders -- ahi poke and beef tartare -- but they both were surprisingly bland. I had a glass of pinot noir, and my husband had the free drink: a Bombay gin martini. It's sad that the free drink was the best thing we sampled, but it was.
Two gents sitting beside us were dining off the full menu, with steaks and asparagus. Their meat seemed awfully overcooked, but maybe they ordered it that way. (Suckers, if that's the case.) Our waitress was friendly and offered plenty of insider tips to our out-of-town neighbors.
I wouldn't call it a bust; it just wasn't that memorable. At least not for happy hour...
