| - I make it a point to do yoga at some point during my vacations. I found that Funke Yoga was conveniently located 5 min. walking distance from my hotel. Furthermore, the first class price is only $5, which was such an awesome deal. My friends and I signed up for the Weekend Warrior class, but unfortunately the instructor for the class was out with the flu. The admin person from the studio called one of my friends asking if she'd be OK with moving to the class after. Our itinerary for the day permitted us to take the later class, so my friend asked the admin to also move all of us to it. No issues there.
Funke Yoga is located in a suite of an older building, so the studio space is small but intimate. I got the sense that Funke Yoga hires some great people. When we arrived, the admin person checked us in and engaged with us in good conversation while waiting for the class to start. The yoga instructor, Jenna, recognized that we were new to her class and made us feel very welcomed.
The class that we were moved to was called "Feel Good Yoga." The class is described as a flow in the Mind Body app, but I didn't really think it was. The class was more like Hatha yoga where you do one pose at a time. The class was also more like a restorative/gentle yoga class. There were no chaturangas, for example. Since this was an all-levels class, it was great that Jenna allowed us to modify our poses based on where we were in our practices. We also got a chance to do a finishing pose or sequence to close out. Jenna guided us with mindful breathing throughout class, and I loved that she led us into a beautiful sleep meditation while in Savasana. Her voice is so soothing and deep. She made it so easy for me to be in stillness, to release any tension in my body, and to relax my mind.
The reason why I can't give it a 5 star ratings is because the studio's yoga mats are gross. I first picked up a light blue mat but had to put it back because of the dirt/sweat stains all over it.
