| - I got a rook piercing (part of the cartilage) done here about two weeks ago and about 2 days after I got it done I noticed that the swelling and redness was increasing instead of decreasing. And I also noticed after about 5 days that it was full of pus and just getting worse! (I followed all of the piercers instructions with aftercare: clean 3 times a day, don't play with it, keep your hair off of it, etc.) So by this time I called them and the lady that works the front desk told me to let it go because it was normal. But a few days later it was even worse so I went to the doctor and they instructed me to take the piercing out and they put me on antibiotics, but my ear was so swollen I couldn't get the hoop out. So I went back to the piercer and he said to leave it in and take my pills and it would heal. (But he should have known that there is no blood flow to cartilage and my antibiotics couldn't get to my ear due to swelling). But again, after about 3 more days, I decided that since my ear was now three times as large as the other one, I was going to have my piercing removed. I went back to the piercer and demanded he take it out and he told me it was all normal and that it wasn't even infected. After the hole closed that night my ear just got bigger and bigger and kept filling with pus and it was getting purple and red so the next day I went to the emergency room only to find out from the ENT that my ear was so infected if I'd waited another day or so I would've lost half of my ear! They had to do an immediate procedure and lance my ear to save it. So now, I'm on bed rest for the entire weekend because my piercer was uneducated in what an infection was and how to care for it. So, I'm not saying these piercers are bad at what they do because the first day I had my piercing it was great! However, if you do get a piercing here keep in mind that they just stick a needle into you, and they are not medical professionals. They have no idea what infections look like.
