  • Something that I recommend everyone does before joining a gym is always have a tour of the facility. A lot of reviews on here are negative ones in regards to amenities no longer available and smaller space to do some activities due to the remodel. Yes the prices are a bit more expensive than other gyms but it also depends on the type of membership that you choose. I find that most people are upset with their experiences here because they jumped into the gym instead of really seeing what they were buying. I signed up for LA Fitness the other day after being a prior Golds Gym member and taking a year off of any gym membership due to financial reasons. I went in and asked for a tour and asked what other LA Fitness gyms have to offer days prior to making my decision. I also went to other LA Fitness locations in the area to see what they have and don't have. I prefer this location due to its close proximity to my house and the fact that I don't need a lot of machines/stuff for my exercises. Now lets get to the real review. The facility is quite small - but I prefer it. Its not a maze and not made for tons of people for a reason. The pool is rather also on the small side but long enough to do a fair amount of strokes. Yes there are no jacuzzis or saunas but in prior gyms I have been in they are rarely used and very difficult to up-keep. I don't find this smaller location to be a big problem. It makes one feel closer to people I think for a reason. The entire week I've been there I find that people watch each other not in an egotistical way but in a "watching over you to make sure you don't get hurt" way. I also find that people at this gym tend to help each other more and familiarize with each other. With it being a smaller gym people get used to seeing each other and they smile and wave as if they know you. The membership pricing can differ depending on which one you get and when. Though the emails I had received all year long had great deals I felt better going in and talking to the managers and trainers. I like to do a lot of research before throwing money at anything - especially something like a gym. My husband went to the gym a couple days before myself to let me know his thoughts then we went together. I was introduced to one of their representatives who went over the packages and deals then introduced us to V, the General Manager of the gym. V can come across as a bit strong but what do you expect from a gym general manager? You can tell he loves his job and wants to see people exceed and be the best they can be. He immediately wanted to sign me up for a free training session for the basic reason of having a trainer show me what I needed to work on whether or not I decided to continue with a trainer and how to work the basic machines in case I had any questions. Andrew was my personal trainer for the session and he was great. He was patient, understanding, and taught you about what the exercise you were doing was doing to your body. He asked me questions on what I wanted to work on, what I wanted to achieve, how I ate and what other exercises I should do for the other areas of my body I wanted to work on. Both V and Andrew really care about not just the gym but the people within it. They have no problem checking in on me and others and even helping other members find ways to better push themselves to the next level. They both consider all in the gym part of a big family and you feel like you are part of one. I am happy with choosing this gym as my go-to gym. I myself don't require a lot of different machines, space, or special amenities but remember - this is just one LA Fitness out of several others in the Valley. You do not need to stay at this one location if you don't want to - research the others if this one does not suite your needs.
