Not sure what P.A. is referring to down there, but there are no stairs on the Mandarin Oriental property...and the place is impeccable (must be referring to the stairs on City Center's property).
After the last day of our meeting, to celebrate my colleague's last conference as she moves onto other things, we shot up the elevator to the 23rd floor and entered the Mandarin Bar. Great vibe. Chill, but taking themselves just seriously enough.
We grabbed some seating next to the windows, enjoyed our views, joked with our server and nibbled on the "bar snacks" as we decided what to order. Beware of the "green balls". Touch your tongue to one if you dare! The Asian mix has a delightful combination of salty and sweet.
I ordered the Royal Tea and it was a bit sweet for my taste, but this is coming from a girl who drinks her Grey Goose straight with a tiny squeeze of lime. My cohorts all seemed to really enjoy their drinks.
This is the type of place where you could hang out for hours. We didn't since we had to make dinner, but would've gone back had we had the time.
Yes, prices are a little high, but ummm you're at a Mandarin Oriental. If you want $5 specials go down the street.
