There are a lot of good reasons to go to this Good Earth Cafe: Great concept, beautiful space, a local success story and ostensibly good to their employees. Unfortunately decent coffee or good food is not one of the reasons.
Brewed coffees, even their lightest, taste overwhelmingly of charcoal and roast. Baked items like biscuits and scones are heavy and often quite salty. Sandwiches sit in the cooler for most of the day, so they're fine if you're getting something grilled or pressed, but not the freshest if you're eating something cold. Hot mac-and-cheese tastes like it must be really good for you (bland) though the lentil stew has a nice flavor balance.
I'm here about once a month for a recurring meeting, and the most luck I've had is with espresso based drinks. Ask for a latte with whole milk, but be wary that there can be a wide margin in the skill of the person working the machine.
