| - My husband and I stayed at The Edgewater on May 4, and were very pleased with our stay. Our beautifully appointed room, which was identical to one pictured at the hotel website, was immaculately clean and showed absolutely no signs of wear. The king size bed was comfortable as were the other furnishings. There was a large marble bathroom with a temperature controlled heated floor; an enormous, deep, soaking tub; and a separate, spacious shower. Bonus points for the lighted, magnifying mirror on the vanity and the lake view from the soaking tub. The room included the usual amenities except it lacked a mini bar. However, there was a mini fridge, and I never use mini bars anyway so didn't miss it. Our room was so quiet, I only knew others were on our floor because I saw some room service trays in the hallway.
We had reserved a 'city view' room (lowest price), and were delighted when we walked into our room and saw both lake and Capital views from the windows. We wondered whether our corner room (#1055) had been upgraded unbeknownst to us, but when I asked about it upon checkout, I was told that no, it was indeed a city view room. Capital view means you get a full on view of the capital centered in a main window (it was somewhat off center from our room); and lake view means you have a straight on lake view. Glad we didn't pay extra for those, because we ended up with nice views of both.
The Edgewater is perfectly located for those wanting to be within walking distance of the Square, UW campus, State St., restaurants and shops. I had considered staying at slightly higher priced places on the Square, and am so glad I chose The Edgewater instead.
