I bought a 2013 Kia Rio last year. Today, I got a flat tire and found myself stuck on the side of the road alone in 103 degree weather. I opened my trunk and looked under the floor board to discover that I had bought a car with NO spare, no doughnut, no jack. I called the dealership and was told that this is standard. If this is standard then I should have been told. If I had known, I would have bought a spare tire, a doughnut, jack, and tire iron. I would have been prepared. No, I was not told until I was stuck on the side of the road. Now, I am a woman stuck on the side of the road waiting for help. The Kia Road Side Assistance strongly advised me to stay with the vehicle. I have been stuck for almost 3 hours now.
I was told that instead of a doughnut I have road side assistance. They can't come change my tire for me because I don't' have one. They will come tow my car to the nearest dealership. They will also no be here for another two hours. I have been stuck on the side of the road for close to 3 hours now. Its a flat tire! This should not be an all day event. Imagine if this had happened at night. I would be all alone in the middle of the night waiting. This is a safety issue that needs to be discussed when the care is purchased. I have NEVER bought a car that didn't come with a doughnut and jack.
I am further upset about how the dealership insists that this is not a big deal. It is standard. I have called several time asking to speak with the manager and was told that he was too busy to speak with me.
