Over commercialized offering of a simple fare. I can do without the gimmicky surfer paraphenalia. I can do without the dozen kids (all employees?) running around having conversations, and ignoring the customers. I can do without the hawking of T-shirts. And the only time I get personal attention, other than ordering, is when some hefty kid tells me not to open the umbrella outside because it was windy earlier. Even if it isn't windy now and there's no table seats available. The older lady shaperoning her grand-kids didn't appreciate it, either.
Don't get me wrong- I love shaved ice. But at these prices, they can offer a lot better by way of service. Why does all the inexpensive Hawaiian food items have to triple in price when they get to the mainland and some corporation gets their mitts on them? That makes me torn about coming here. The Shaved ice is nice, but the service and prices are not.
This exemplifies the franchising model- simple things made fairly well, done with inexpensive labor. This place could use some business oversite on location. Customers don't want a teen hangout- they want service. This place could make itself better if they paid attention to this.
