| - I stayed at the Sheraton recently when I flew in for a friend's funeral. Since the weather was going to be bad (hmmm, bad weather in March in Cleveland?), I wanted to be as close as possible to the airport.
I chose the Club floor because I needed an early breakfast each day - I did not know that they only opened at 6am, so on the day most important to me, I couldn't eat there anyway. The day I did eat breakfast, I have to say it was very disappointing. Dried out eggs over cheese that were lukewarm, and a piece of toast. Really poor form. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely - very friendly and helpful, but if I were in their shoes I would be embarrassed at the lack of quality in the food. Breakfast is not an expensive meal to provide. The room itself was not worth the price either. Dreary brown everywhere and a bathroom that had the bare minimum - no shower caps, no cotton balls, nothing extra. Just the very typical shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
I also had to deal with 9 floors to hike up and down as the elevators weren't working one of the days I was there. That was on top of no Internet downstairs for printing boarding passes, (which at 5am in the morning added significantly to my wait at the airport which was mobbed).
The person at the front desk was unimpressed with my sentiments that the above inconveniences should have merited at least a reduction of the Club charge. I also took the Green Option to forego housecleaning, and supposedly will receive 500 extra points for that (I wanted the $5 refund, but I was told I couldn't ask for it at checkout.)
I would not recommend the Sheraton after this visit. There are several hotels - and all of them including the Sheraton require a shuttle ride, so it does not matter. Go by quality of stay and the reviews!
