  • I am a late to get married gal... 36 years old and married the love of my life. So I wanted my wedding day to be perfect and it was for the most part. We arrived at the chapel a day before the wedding to check it out. At first I was very frightened because we parked in the back parking lot. Having to walk through the hotel lot was a bit scary because you look at the hotel and not the actual lobby and gazebo area where the ceremonies take place. First impression was that we should run away. When we finally came inside the lobby, my mind changed. Everything was bright and clean and nice. The indoor chapel was gorgeous to the point of almost wanting to move into that spot instead of having the ceremony where we purchased it...in the gazebo. We decided to go ahead and keep our original venue afterall...in the outdoor gazebo. The staff (consisted of one girl) seemed pleasant enough and we started to get excited about the day to follow. The limo picked us up on time and was very nice. The limo was white and very clean inside. We arrived by 6:15pm as we were advised several times that we needed to be there by 6:30pm sharp because our ceremony would start promptly at 7pm. This would give the staff time to take pictures, get our paperwork completed and get the ceremony started on time. Guests needed to be there by 6:30 as well. So we went straight in, signed some forms, discussed a few items with the girl at the front and then took our own photos with friends and family as we waited. I ended up sitting on one of the nice white benches in front of the chapel office. When I stood up there was black, sticky goo all over my DRESS!!!! I advised the girl who was running the office and when she came out and looked at where I had sat...she could clearly see that there was black sticky stuff on the edge (and proceeded to mark it with a note so others wouldn't sit there) but proceeded to dismiss me by saying "oh, you must have gotten that from the limo". I almost lost it. I let it roll and we moved on. We got our pictures taken at 6:55pm (which I thought was strange because the ceremony was going to start at 7). Our guests went out right after pictures and took their seats. Unfortunately my dad, my maid-of-honor and I stood around in the lobby and when we looked at the clock it was now 7:25pm and no one anywhere to tell us what was going to happen next. Keep in mind it was 95 degrees this day and was still considerably hot in the evening. So my hubby-to-be and my son waited patiently outside in the gazebo while our guests were melting. They kept motioning to me to get some answers. By this time, my dad had enough, took me by the hand marched me into the office. No one to be found...so he raised his voice so that if someone was in the back, they could hear him. He said "hey, is anyone back there, we are trying to have a wedding out here"...the response was "be there shortly sir, we have paperwork and pictures to take care of".....to which I said "that was supposed to happen at 6:30!!!" Right afterward a frantic minister comes running out to meet us and explains that it wasn't his fault...that he just works there...hired to do ceremonies. His name was George and he was fantastic. So the wedding went smooth, they let my brother stand up and do a special ring ceremony for our kids and it was beautiful. At the end of it all, my new hubby and I had to go back in the office to sign our marriage certificate and hand over gratuities. It was a tad cheesey that they ask for a gratuity but then tell you how much you have to give. So we did it...so we could get our stuff and get on with celebrating with friends and family. I told the girl that I was sorry for getting bummed but that she should hopefully understand why...my dress got ruined and they were late. Her response "Sorry, I didn't realize you were in such a rush" ... ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME???!!!!??? It is my wedding day...UGH!!! So rude. All in all the entire event was great..... I am happy we were at that chapel. The staff on the other hand...or should I just say the girl in the office (didn't catch her name, because I didn't really want to know her) was horrible. She was so arrogant and condesending. Reminder to you....a wedding is a very special day in a girl's life and should be treated as such.... you should really treat your paying customers with consideration and sympathy when things are obviously wrong with your chapel or the service you provide. That's all...take it for what it is worth. Again, gorgeous chapel and great ceremony...just one bad egg in the situation is why I gave it my rating. It's too bad...they would have had a higher rating from me. Happily married newlywed!
