| - Every now and again, I'll take a walk through this park, one that is located directly behind Arsenal Shool, prior to showing up for work. In the mornings, it can be quite serene, so much so that the murmuring birds and insects can make you forget that you're in one of Pittsburgh's most frolicsome communities. The cars and trucks that rumble up and down Butler Street cannot be heard amidst the chirping of small, fluffy, wholesome rodents of various shapes, sizes, and colors. Aside from the odd jogger or passerby, it almost seems remote until you catch sight of the sleepy rowhouses to your left...or the cannon, which serves as a cast-iron reminder of bloody battles fought long ago.
Arsenal Park: One of our dear city's most pleasurable shortcuts. She could use some sprucing up, however. The rusty fences and graffitti tags sadden me.
P.S. I once played a fairly brutal game of Sunday morning flag football here about 8 years ago. I assume it was my "initiation" of sorts as I had just began my tenure with my current employer. The manner in which my co-workers all ran for their lives from me like frightened lambs after weeks and weeks of juvenile shit-talking was humorously pathetic and therefore priceless.
