I hate to say it - Guschlbauer is definitely overrated.
I visited the shop on its soft opening day because of the discounts, but it still cost me more than 10 dollars (for 2 pieces of bread). The bread itself was hard and flat & it hardly tastes like how it looks like. As for the cheese...come on, of course it tastes nice on a piece of bread. It is the exact same thing with bagels & cream cheese or any other combination of cheese and bread. Since Guschlbauer did not impress me in any respect, I do not think I'll be back for another visit unless they have done something revolutionary.
Also, I do not like how it is marketed as "Austrian cheese buns" while it has nothing to do with the country. I thought it's from China? Why don't they just market themselves as Chinese cheese buns? I hope the false marketing was not the result of cultural degradation (to both Chinese & Austrian).
