  • First of all, I have to say that the staff at Newman eye center are wonderful and kind; they also are friendly and approachable. Staff and including Doctor Newman are knowledgeable. From the first moment I came in, I didn't have to wait that long before being call in. That was when things got interesting. I've been in a medical field for more than 15 years. I also taught pre-med, pre-nursing and medical professionals for more than 10 years. I always taught my students to introduce themselves when they first meet with the patient and their position (nurses, doctor, PA, medical assistant, etc.) so the patient would be truly informed of who they are dealing with. None of the staff at Newman introduces themselves except for Dr. Newman. Secondly, they like to keep the exam rooms' door open. There's not much of confidentiality in the exam room. Other patients and staff could see you in the exam room as they walk by in the hallway. In addition, staff would just come in and out the room freely as they please. When staff needed something from Dr. Newman, they just marched right in without knocking or waiting. As I walked down the hallway, I could see other patients in the exam rooms as well. Dr. Newman is a wonderful doctor and very intelligent. Though, he likes to mumbles and speaks his thoughts a lot. Dr. Newman just says whatever thoughts that come in his head. He also often asks me the same questions 3-4 times. Nurses have to wait for him to process his thoughts. He would say things 2-3 times and going back and forth about his treatment or recommendations. Eventually, I would come up with the final recommendation. As a doctor, we do this as well, but we usually do it in our head, not out loud. Not sure whether this is an early onset of dementia or just his personality. Though his hands are very still and precise, which is great for being an eye surgeon. Overall, I had a good experience with Dr. Newman.
