This is one of the better thrift stores in Vegas. They converted an old Pharmacy into a huge second hand store. The clothes racks go on for days. Anything from the expected old high school band camp tees and slot club polo shirt giveaways up to wedding dresses and men's suits. I even spotted a 6 foot clown fish stuffed animal on this visit. I may have bought Titanic on VHS for 33 cents. It was definitely a impulse buy, but I haven't found a way to fight off the impulse for Leo and Kate packaged in a 2-tape VHS set for less than a buck.
The furniture section here is large. A sprawling selection of sofas and entertainment centers circa 1987. Housewares was good too, but not great. Apparently people are reluctant to part with their immersion blenders and serving bowls these days. The store may have actually lost a star for the lack of a waffle maker. I'm only half joking.
The one-star penalty is mainly a result of the store being too busy. But it wouldn't be fair to knock them down too much for the crowd. There are people flocking to this place because they know how to keep the shelves full of good finds. They also know how to cycle through a long line in no time; however, the sight of 30 people in front of you might get you rethinking the impulse for a young Leo and Kate cinematic masterpiece. In their defense, I was here on Senior Wednesday when you get 50% off most merch when you show a valid ID confirming your life experience. It's clean as far as thrift store standards are concerned. But the carts all had a bunch of hangers and little scraps of trash.
At the end of the day, the employees and volunteers of Goodwill make this place great. They were constantly offering friendly hellos and good mornings to people coming in and inviting people to have a Goodwill day on the way out. That's a little cheesy but it's good culture and fantastic branding.
And at the end of it all. They offered to help me take my 6 foot clown fish out to the car.
