So I decided I would check off one of my bookmarks...Cajun Yard Dog wasn't too far from my location, so I headed over. It's located in Arboretum shops...literally next door to Michael's. The location is small, busy and loaded with aromas. My server Lynne was very friendly and enthusiastic! She talked me into a strawberry Abita (very good) and an appetizer. I have no clue how I agreed to try the deviled eggs, but that menu item was NOT "eggs-cellent"! Something's missing from the mixture. There was no flavor and they are just blah on a plate! At least they were cold...I had to chip the ice off!
I ordered the catch of the day, swai topped with a cream sauce of crawfish and shrimp. My two sides: mac-n-cheese and fried okra. The fish was cooked perfectly! Very tender and flavorful. The cream sauce was delicious and the shellfish wasn't overcooked. The mac-n-cheese was spiraled pasta, made with a bechemel and cheddar cheese. I could taste the butter in the pasta which makes the flavor pop! The okra was fried crispy just how I like it. I even rolled a few pieces in the cream sauce. Price wise, you're looking to spend $30 (app, drink & entree). There's no liquor, just beer and wine. The location is small, so to avoid a wait, go at an off peak time.
