| - I could blow a gasket every time I walk into a Giant Eagle. First of all, their prices are outrageous. Even with the sales, double coupons, and fuelperks, I spend significantly more at Giant Eagle than I do at their competitors. For example, fresh pineapple on sale on at Giant Eagle - $3.99; fresh pineapple on sale at a competitor - $0.99. Additionally, I have never been able to get every item on my list when I shop at Giant Eagle. I understand that sometimes stores run out of things, but 0% is completely unacceptable. My neighborhood Giant Eagles (yes, multiple) regularly run out of sale items and then have the audacity to give me a hard time when I ask for a rain check. I have been told told four days in a row that an item "will be in tomorrow" only to return the following day and be told that the item isn't in stock. Maybe the employees don't know the meaning of the word "tomorrow." Many times, items have been labeled as being on sale when they are not coded that way in the register, and when I ask the cashier to honor the price as advertised, the staff becomes curt with me. I would love to avoid Giant Eagle like the plague. Unfortunately, competitor stores are much farther from where I live. I still go out of my way to shop at competitors and only shop at the Evil Empire when I just need to run around the corner and grab an item or two. If you can avoid shopping at Giant Eagle, do it. Your wallet and your heart will thank you.
