| - My family and I just moved to Vegas last month and we are enjoying all the great restaurants this city has to offer!
I made a reservation for a Saturday at 5:30. My party and I were about 20 minutes early but the host was quick to accommodate us and we're we're seated immediately.
Walking into the dimly lit restaurant was like walking into another era. It was fabulous! From the looks of the outside of the restaurant you would never know of the treasure it holds inside.
All of the staff in the entire restaurant are great... Attentive, kind, prompt and, entertaining! Our waiter Humberto was awesome, sharing history of the restaurant and the decor surrounding our table. He also mentioned to us it was a popular hangout for the mob and that they have a private dining room referred to as "the mob room". That would be great to see in a future visit.
Now the food! We started with the garlic bread it was slightly crunchy, flakey, cheesy and, not overpowered by garlic it had the perfect balance of flavors.
Followed by the table side Caesar salad, the dressing was mixed and doctored up right before our eyes. Tossed and served with homemade croutons. The dressing was the best Caesar dressing I have ever had! It was creamy yet had a bit of tang that my entire party really enjoyed.
Now on to the entree, the filet mignon with a twice baked potato to accompany. The filet was delicious! It was large enough to feed two adults comfortably. Simply seasoned and cooked to perfection. Again one of the best I have ever had! The twice baked potato was good. The potato was baked, then the tender potato was scooped out and whipped with delicious toppings, placed back in the skin and baked again with delicious seasoning on top.
Now from what I researched prior to my visit, The Golden Steer is popular for their prime rib. I had the pleasure of sampling (from a family members dinner). It was so tender and flavorful, definitely living up to its popularity.
I look forward to visiting The Golden Steer again, it was quite a treat for my family and I!
