| - Since I started staying at the Quality Inn on Crescent, I've adopted this little convenience store as my new last stop of the night place...
At around 3-4am, after a long day & night of drinking and enjoying as much of Montréal as I can, my needs become pretty simple... large pizza, small poutine, and a cold beer before passing out for the night. This shop covers them... well after a certain hour they have to lock the alcohol coolers, so we usually plan ahead and pick some up in the morning/afternoon. But as far as the pizza & poutine, they have me covered.
One of the cooler things about this place for me is that the owner, who's always running the show behind the counter, always remembers me. Now I don't mean he vaguely recognizes my face and acts like a polite business owner... but the guy actually knows my name and what I'm gonna order. Now if I were in there every week ordering up pizza & poutine, not only would I have an extra 100lbs on me, but I would also find him treating me like a regular less amazing. But this guy must see a few dozen drunken animals every night, especially on the weekends, in his business. Yet he remembers the name and the order of someone who only walked in to his place 4 times over the past year. That gets a "pretty cool" in my book.
As I'm sure you can figure out, the food isn't on the gourmet side, but like I said, at 3-4am it does the trick for late night eats in the downtown area.
