Fifth Third bank branches are staffed with personnel that are friendly enough but the overall service offered is really terrible. I actually opened up my account in the newly opened Noda location.
My wallet was stolen about a week after I opened th account- I was hit with several hundreds of dollars in overdraft fess and no one could tell me anything about when the money would be refunded. It took more than a month for the dispute to be resolved. In that time, the staff offered little information or consolation and in fact complicated my account quite a bit. They were not at all sympathetic and did not seem to have knowledge of even rudimentary bank transactions.
I will say that this particular branch was kind enough and seemed more sympathetic than my own branch, excluding the branch manager, MSmith. However, there are still very serious intracommunication difficulties that 53 banks seem to experience with their corporate offices. For example, corporate sent eleven notifications informing me of my address change. I KNOW IT WAS CHANGED. I changed it. Also, they've had two different numbers for me on file, even after I disclosed more than thrice that only one of those were mine.
They are slow to respond, and when they do call back, you are greeted with wait music or an automated message.
I have never dealt with such poor service. (There are class action suits against this bank in GA and DC for charging overdraft fees when sufficient funds are in the said account).
I will NEVER do business with them again.
