| - We had early reservations on NYE so we could go to the theater that evening. The website offered a three course fixed price offering for early diners- we were going early anyway so I thought we would check that out.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
I do not remember our server's name. He resembled Manny on Modern Family though. He went over the menu w us after we ordered cocktails. I asked about the three couse offering and his body language suggested he was irritated. "Yeah, I can get that for you, but it's pretty much (described a couple dishes from the menu in an offhand way). His manner seemed to be that he was discouraging us from choosing that (yeah, I get it. Ticket is low, tip is low).
My date ordered from the special menu, I ordered from regular menu.
Our server was not terribly attentive after that. We had to flag him down to ask for dessert. Again, we asked about the molten cake and he tried to discourage us by saying, "well, it takes 10 minutes if that is what you want". Well it is what we wanted and it was ready in like, three minutes. He did not ask of we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Too bad, it could have run up the ticket for him.
The food was okay, but when the server decides ahead of time you aren't worth enough to give good service, the food can't make up for it. By the way, I'm usually a good tipper - he got 15% which was far more than he deserved.
