Finally, some authentic Mexican food on State Street. I'd even argue that this is the best restaurant in the neighborhood.
Tacos are served with cilantro and onion and homemade tortillas and are top-notch. Their campechano taco is a personal favorite--steak with chorizo. Pastor (pork) tacos also excellent. Red and green sauces are both outstanding, with very different flavors. The quesedilla is more like an empanada full of cheese; it's a folded over tortilla deep fried and also filled with meat. The gorditas are basically puffy masa cut in half, fried, and stuffed with meat, cilantro, and onion. The bread could use more seasoning but does the job of being small yet filling.
Absolutely brilliant compared to Chipotle or Qdoba, the only other storefronts within walking distance that offer anything resembling what you can get at Gemelos. Spend 100% of your drunk funds on tacos here, undergrads; there's no more excuse to eat white-boy chain burritos for lack of options.
