  • It is currently 83 degrees in my house because the air condition is not working at all... American Homes 4 Rent ("AH4R") has the worst maintenance service I have ever encountered. My wife and I have a 6 week old son who was discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ("NICU") and needs certain care like feeding schedules, regulated temperature, etc. to ensure a healthy development. About 4 weeks ago, the air condition went out and after putting in a service order online, I never got a call back from AH4R. I ended up having to call AH4R's maintenance line and, after spending some 30 minutes on the phone with them, got them to send an approved vendor to check on the air conditioner. A company called MVP was scheduled to come out - and, MVP originally tried to cancel, but ultimately did come out and added freon. The freon helped for a few weeks but the air conditioner struggled to get below 75 degrees. Mind you, my electricity has been very expensive because I'm trying to run an air condition unit to cool a house, that cannot cool a house. Anyway, I call today - and I cannot even describe the pain of today's issues - After 20 minutes on the phone this morning around 10:00 a.m., they are supposed to send MVP back out to fix the air condition. I don't get a call from MVP - I call AH4R back, after spending 20 minutes trying to get to maintenance, I get told to call MVP, leave a message, if they don't return your call, then to call back and they will get a different vendor out. Well MVP never calls back. So, I call AH4R back, where I am told that they confirmed MVP was coming out today and they confirmed they have no other vendors available. I speak to the supervisor, who puts me on hold for 45 minutes while they try to reach MVP, then finally come back that they scheduled a second vendor... after nearly 2 HOURS on the phone with AH4R - I finally get them to send a second vendor... I'm still waiting on the air conditioning people but... we will see if it gets resolved. Oh, a few more things - the fence blew over during a storm - it took them almost 10 days to fix that - we have dogs who couldn't use the yard. We had a clogged drain pipe less than a week after moving in - but supposedly they checked all that before move in. Conservice attempted to bill me for services not rendered and the property manager originally took Conservice's side, until I sent a letter to the Texas Utilities Commission who stated they in fact could not bill for the services attempted. But the property manager, Warren, is VERY ANTI-TENET and instead, favors vendors and AH4R above the health and safety of the Tenets, at least from my experience with the bloke. The garage door broke... so that was fun for a while as we again waited till an approved vendor came out to fix it. Bottomline - WORST LANDLORD I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE!
