  • So tried this out for the 1st time tonight ... Quite a distance from our house but nevertheless. The place is definitely a "dive" so it does fit into the DDD well. I had to let my eyes adjust for a few seconds when I walked in because it's dark :) Once I could see - we walked over to the takeout window and were greeted by a really nice waiter. He asked if it was first time and if we wanted some suggestions but I had my mind made up before we walked in lol. We opted for the "not so wee" (about the size of 2 of their menus) size of the "Fat Boy" which consisted of Mozzerella cheese, fresh tomatoes, fresh sausage with delicious fennel seeds, pepperoni, ham and fresh basil. I also ordered a small poutine (for those not familiar it's fries served traditionally with brown gravy and cheese curds). Since I have an aversion to curds - I asked them to make it with just Mozzerella and they were happy to do it. Though I've had poutine in Montreal on several occasions - I grew up with cheese fries and gravy in Philly and for the life of me - it's a struggle to cheese fries in this town unless they have nasty nacho cheese on them. The poutine was great. The fries were freshly cut, not very greasy and had just the right amount of cheese. They put the gravy on the side which was a brilliant idea as it was a 20+ min ride home - this way they weren't too soggy. I'm not sure what else they put on the fries but I could have made a meal of just these fries. They were great! As for the pizza - it was also great. I loveeeee that they make their own fresh sausage and that they use fresh ingredients on the pizza. Though it wasn't your typical "dive" pizza that I'm used to getting in a pizza shop back east - this was some damn good stuff. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that I would prefer if the pizza toppings were spread out more to hit the 4 corner pieces. Since the pizza is rectangular most of the ingredients are focused towards the middle of the pizza do when you grab for a piece along the edge you don't get to taste all of the flavors. The entire staff was friendly and kept us up to date on our order. We'll definitely be going back soon!
