If you are an novice, you are venturing into a high end "holt renfrew" camera store!! Where when you walk in, the sales people don't look at you, unless you are known to them. Just like walking into a ferrari dealership, they think you are there to look, not to buy. So don't expect to get service unless you get to know one of them, and to do that, you have to drop a load of money on equipment, and keep on going back to drop another load.
The first 2-8 times that i've been here, i received the "can i Not help you" service. I was browsing and checking out their prices.
They do carry a lot in stock, and its nice to look at expensive equipment on display. There are 3 floors to browse.
So at one point in my life, i needed quite a few items, so ended up purchasing from the same salesperson each time, so i became a regular for him. I got great service. When he was off or on holidays, i would get the bad service again. So i only bought items when he was working.
Rental department is a whole different story. Staff here is pretty good. I've never had a problem with them. Pricing is ok, they help you check the equipment, make sure it works, and will explain how to use it. Returning procedure is pretty quick, they just check over the equipment and make sure it still works and nothing is damaged.

Long story short,,,
If you are not dropping a wad of cash .. weekly or monthly.. don't expect good service. You are not their regular customer.
Yes, they get commission on sales. Maybe thats why.
So, if you have to shop there, ask questions to test out which salesperson is the nicest, and ask for their business card, and stick with them. You'll end up with better service in the long run.
