| - I really wanted to like Parkside. There are lots of nice things about living here: they allow pets, most of the apartments have some cosmetic updates, water is included in the rent, and the price is super cheap. But the "bones" of the apartment aren't very good. I have a window that leaks every time there is a substantial rainstorm. In a heavy thunderstorm, water pours in. I've told management about it four or five times and they never fix it-- even though Urbana law says that a leaky window must be fixed within one week's time. I know that there are other apartments in the complex that have this problem too. In fact, the first time I called the emegency maintenance line about it, the guy who answered the phone said "Yeah, I just had four or five calls about the same thing..." Also, like other reviewers, I've also noticed a problem with musty odors and cigarette smoke in spite of no-smoking signs in the building. Whether its smoke, mold, mildew, or some general funk, it's absolutely disgusting and no amount of cleaning seems to get rid of it (believe me, I've tried EVERYTHING). I plan to move ASAP. I guess you get what you pay for.
