Intermezzo is a small, intimate restaurant with a steady cast of bartenders/servers. You feel like you're walking into a friend's restaurant each time you walk through the door. There is a small bar that seats 10 or fewer - this is my favorite place to sit - a patio that is heated in the winter and then a dining room with a small nook near the bar. It's a unique and charming venue.
While many people (including me, sometimes) order the pizza at Intermezzo, their Serbian food is really where the menu shines. Going in, you should be aware that this is not light food - it's hearty, stick with you, comfort food. The piroska is outstanding - essentially a Serbian calzone. The becka snickla - pork tenderloin cutlet with potatoes and creamed spinach - is so very tasty. I recommend spreading the creamed spinach - which I could eat by the bucketful - on the pork tenderloin. I also recommend the eggplant musaka - ask for an extra side of the marinara - it's addictive. I really don't think you can go wrong - and, if you're not sure, just ask your server - they're very knowledgeable and helpful.
The bar offers a few wines by the glass and about about 8 beers on tap that rotate. If you're going to have more than 4 people, call ahead and see about reserving a table.
