Let me start by saying that both my boyfriend and i REALLY enjoyed our experience at Yojie!
Neither one of us had ever been to a Japanese fondue spot before, but I insisted on this place for his birthday a couple of weeks ago. I was curious to try it, and, i must admit, we both like Jo Koy, so the fact that he is the owner helped persuade him.
It was a Wednesday evening, so we weren't surprised it was a slow night for them. We had the awesome ambience and 90's r&b music all to ourselves. Perfect for our date... When we got there, we were immediately greeted by our server, Michael. When we told him it was my bf's birthday, he brought out a cute little wooden block that says "Happy Birthday" on it...
We explained it was our first time there, so Michael was VERY accommodating and explained how Japanese fondue works. He even let us record him for social media purposes! He's very sweet, and helpful and a total cutie pie. I also appreciated that he and his other coworkers were very attentive and joked with us a lot along the way. I appreciate good customer service, and they provided it.
The food is excellent. We went with a combination platter that Michael recommended with the beef and pork and paired it with the egg sauce, Shabu shabu. The combination platter was big enough to feed both of us and it was only $24.99 ! I don't know how they stay in business, maybe with people that eat more than us.
What ABSOLUTELY made our night, though, was the fact that Jo Koy and his wife came in for a late night dinner! My boyfriend couldn't stop cheering the entire time. seriously, if you don't know who this guy is, you should! That way, if he happens to walk in on your visit there, you can fangirl like we did and ask him for selfies and snapchat videos! Which he will gladly comply to btw, he's cool like that. He even treated us to a complimentary dessert for the occasion. It was a green tea- white chocolate fondue with delicious fruit, brownies, marshmallows, etc. I was in love!
Hope your experience is as awesome as ours was. Say Marcela sent you! It won't mean anything to them, but it'll make me feel special :P
