| - First of all, let me start off by saying, this resort is beautiful, but there are some sinister things going on beneath the surface.
We stayed in a suite, which was very clean, brand new and very well decorated. The staff was very friendly upon check-in, however the evening staff gave me a bit of attitude when I asked where their convenience store was (there is a sign hanging up near the entrance with an error pointing to a Convenience Store). The clerk brusquely said "We don't have a convenience store". When I asked her about the sign hanging up stating they did, she replied shortly "I know." That was it, that was the complete conversation.
My real issue comes with the day we checked out. We were meeting a friend at the Mandalay Bay, but his check in time wasn't until 4 PM, and we had to check out of the Wyndham by 10 AM. They let us know we could leave our bags with them, and they'd watch them while we popped across the street to the Rio to get some food. Again, we encountered some really kind people and great service among the morning staff, and had no problem leaving our luggage there. We returned to the Wyndham around 12:30-1 PM, asked for our bags and hailed a taxi.
When we arrived at the Mandalay, my boyfriend opened his bag to grab a shirt, and while digging through his suitcase, found the name tag of a Wyndham employee named Mike in the bottom of his bag. We all just kind of stared at each other, and started checking our bags. My other male friend's bag seemed to be untouched, however my bag and my female friend's bag had been rifled through. Things were out of place and clearly someone had hastily looked through our luggage.
My boyfriend immediately took a picture of the tag, called the Wyndham, and filed a complaint. He didn't request any monetary compensation as nothing was missing, but did ask that they credit back the day we stayed (this is his aunt's condo, and we didn't want her to lose points for the day we were there after something like this happened). There was a back-and forth for about a week before the manager finally became available (allegedly he wasn't in for a week, which seems a little off). He says he reviewed the camera footage, and saw us give the employee our luggage ticket and then he was only gone for 25 seconds, which wouldn't be enough time for him to go through 3 bags. Conveniently though, nothing was mentioned regarding the 2.5-3 hours when we were at the Rio.
Bottom line, this is a lovely, brand new resort that barely opened, and it's a real shame they not only have untrustworthy employees, but defend untrustworthy employees over their customers. My boyfriend's aunt and the other subscribers to the Wyndham chain of condos, pay a lot of money to stay in these establishments, and I think it's disgraceful to accept that kind of behavior. I will never go back to any of the Wyndhams, especially this one, because I feel like my privacy was completely violated, and beyond that, that they didn't give a crap. If you do decide to stay here, check your baggage before leaving and keep your jewelry on you. Oh, and don't trust Mike.
