| - There is only one reason to go here: the despondency that can only result from hunger and desperation as you prowl the streets anxiously looking for food in the cold, dark winter while your extremities beg for sweet respite from the numbing air.
Even laziness is not a proper excuse for a trip to this place. I live next door to this grocery shack and after a more than adequate sample size (wrought of my own indolence), in spite of the expiration date safely distant and the item not being marked down, I cannot tell you how many times I have opened my purchases only to find that wonderfully pungent smell of rot and mold wafting into my nostrils.
Even the croissants, punctuated with the dilapidated sign: "Baked Fresh Daily!", taste stale. I have never met a pastry that I didn't like and despite being hungry, was unable to finish the croissant. The chocolate and butter were so rancid that it was overwhelming.
I have had many other incidents but by far, my most memorable experience here was buying a small carton of milk for my tea. I took a swig out of the carton, and was pleasantly surprised to taste what seemed like Gorgonzola cheese (a type of blue cheese).
A final note: not all is what it seems here. I even bought blueberries that looked wonderful and delicious from the outside but when I tasted them, they had that sweetly rotten taste. Items that I have never had problems with here include: bananas, packaged fruit (like the cut up melons/strawberries), oranges, ginger ale, fresh chicken soup pots in the back and any of the boxed fruit juices.
