| - When you hit the end of the Fremont St. experience and head towards the El Cortez and Container Park, things shift from touristy to hipster REAL fast. And serving as somewhat of a gateway between these two vastly different parts of Downtown Las Vegas is Park on Fremont. The large draft craft beer selection and small bites of re-imaged pub fare screams hipster gastropub, but it's just as common to see a couple of "regular folks" wander over from the Fremont Experience to grab a NASCAR brew and a shot. And their extensive bottle selection goes from numerous west coast craft brews to bottles of Mickey's.
My first trip to Park was in Vegas last year. I stopped here as a "beer layover" on my walk from Container Park back to my hotel at the GN. This was the first place where I tried the awesome Stiegl Grapefruit Radler on tap. I didn't eat, although I REALLY wanted to come back for the Philly Mac and Cheese Steak. It sounds like such an atrocity for a cheesesteak purist like myself, but it had my curiosity peaked.
I did make it back to Park during my most-recent trip, but it was late-night and I just didn't have the hunger for something that large. Thankfully they had late-night happy hour, and their awesome Garbage Fries for $5. Topped with cheese, bacon, avocado, chipoltes, jalapenos, tomatoes, green onions, and fried egg for good measure ... it may look like "garbage" but it tasted delicious.
Park on Fremont is a place I want to continue coming back to each time I'm in Downtown LV. I've got to try the cheesesteak, and I still haven't checked out their patio yet. (Which looks awesome from the photos) It's worth the short venture off the "Downtown Strip".
