| - I came here for:
- a basic nude bra that was versatile
- super comfortable, great fit.
Should be simple, right?
The fitter put me in a 30E size which I had never tried before and to me felt SUPER tight. She assured me it was because I was used to loose-fitting bras. There was a pretty small selection of nude coloured "t-shirt" type basic bras - about 5 or 6 styles. They were all around $150. So I chose one that looked good and was recommended - it was really flattering so I decided to drop the $150, and also get a cute lacy black bra for around $50.
When I went home, I tried the nude bra on with a few different dresses and shirts - turns out it isn't versatile at all, it can't be worn with a low cut neckline or arm holes that are even a little deep. That was one of the main things I was looking for. I also kept it on for about 15 mins and within that time the tightness of the band was really bothering me. I kept trying to readjust to make it more comfortable. When I took it off, the seam lines from the back of the bra were imprinted in my skin and it was red. Obviously a sign of an ill-fit. The same thing with the black lacy bra.
I took them both back but the return policy here sucks - you can't get a refund, only a store credit that is valid for 1 year (why would this expire?!). So I got re-fit, told the fitter all my issues with the previously bra, and they still tried to insist that the 30E was a good size for me. Anyway I got them down to 32D and exchanged for a different style. This is the least favourite bra I own - it's much too uncomfortable to wear for a full day. I am constantly pulling at it and trying to make it sit right at the back with the band and also at the front. It's also too much of a push up style for my liking - I just wanted a basic comfy bra. I don't think they understood that, or they don't have enough styles to suit that request which is quite disappointing.
The thing is - I don't have a large breasts or need very much support. I have average-sized perky breasts. All I wanted was a comfortable nude bra that can be worn with all types of clothes. It seems the nude "t-shirt" bras sold here are all super high coverage and have way too much fabric for me. They need more styles, especially for a specialty store.
The other thing is the sizing - I normally wear a 32C but they fit me as a 30E and then later 32D - I think they are purposely telling people that they need some specialty sizing that you can only get for $150 each...when in reality I have a totally normal and typical upper body that the standard range of bra sizes should be able to accommodate.
I also don't like that I can't browse the styles myself, and the things in the showroom weren't for trying on and didn't even come in most sizes. That's not how I like to shop for bras. Especially when I'm paying a ridiculous price for a bra. Oh and they didn't have any sports bras at all to try!
In summary:
- Poor selection - couldn't find a style to fit my needs (comfy and versatile)
- Very expensive bras
- Terrible return policy
- Bad fitters who recommended a bra that is my most uncomfortable by far (they are friendly however)
- They fit you with weird unheard-of sizes that you can only get at specialty stores (e.g. 30E)
- Poor store setup where customers can't browse independently
Unfortunately I still have a $50 credit here that I need to use...I honestly am just hoping they get some sports bras or something that is not fit-based that I can spend this on.
