| - Regardless of having flown in and out of this airport a few times, everything was a blur from 22 years ago, lol! I was really surprised at how new and modern this joint was.
ARRIVAL:
We flew in from Puerto Vallarta so we had to go through passport control. After exiting the plane, it was a short but odd way to access the facilities. We had to descend three levels which brought us to immigration where automated self-service kiosks scanned our passports. I was surprised at how quick and efficient their service was compared to DFW, though they do handle way less volume. Soon after this was baggage claim. After retrieving our bags, we had to go back up the three levels to exit the terminal. It's so inconvenient especially if you have a lot of luggage, kids or seniors.
TRANSPORTATION:
I loved how they have north and south side pick up options as it prevents clogging up a single area. And yes, Uber is allowed to pick up at PHX. Cross the street and head to the middle median. Uber picks up at area number 1 on the north side and area number 8 on the south side, separate from all other options.
DEPARTURE:
Road signs were crystal clear, complete with airline names and terminal numbers. TSA moved quick. There are a lot of shops and restaurants before and after security. If you're an American Airlines passenger, there are Admiral Club lounges in every wing of PHX. The AC lounge we utilized was small but hey, it worked!
OVERALL:
A perfectly-sized airport that's a better layover alternative to behemoths like DFW and LAX.
